Pastor, Meet Missionary Scott Allen

A few days ago, I was able to spend some time with a fabulous missionary couple serving with Macedonia World Baptist Missions going to the country of Brazil, South America. The Allen family were such an encouragement to me and my family. We met these people a few years ago in a Missions Conference in Georgia. They have not changed a bit!

While Brother Scott, his wife Donna and his daughters were in our area, I caught them off guard a bit and challenged them to make a few videos with me. The video below is the first one I made with Brother Scott. I interviewed him on a couple of things. He shared a character trait of his father he wanted to mimic in ministry. We also conversed about blessings and lessons of the ministry of deputation.

It is our desire that this video would speak to your heart. I hope that you will see and hear something that would cause you to pray for this family!

565164: Lectures to My Students Lectures to My Students

By C.H. Spurgeon / Hendrickson Publishers

Though best remembered as the most popular preacher of the Victorian era, C. H. Spurgeon was also founder and president of the Pastors College in London. He supervised the training of over 800 students, presided at an annual conference for ministers, and, on Friday afternoons, delivered regular lectures on every aspect of pulpit ministry.

Featuring such gems as “The Ministers Fainting Fits” “Posture, Action, Gesture, etc.” and “On the Choice of a Text,” this unabridged edition of 28 of Spurgeons classroom discourses on homiletics overflows with practical wisdom, discerning wit, and sage advice. Covering the call, open-air preaching, ordinary conversations, using illustrations, and conduct outside the church, Spurgeons words are as rich and nourishing for pastors and students today as they were more than a century ago.
