THE LORD SEALS US

(Ephesians 4:30) “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”  (KJV)

“The seal of the Lord impresses His likeness on all it touches. So, the Holy Spirit seals us and makes us strong with the strength of Christ; and wise with the wisdom of Christ; and gracious with the gentleness of Christ; and holy with the purity of Christ.

We have the earnest of the Spirit, that is, the guarantee that our bodies will be resurrected from the dead.

The seal forever identifies us with Christ, as His possession; it guarantees that I am His and He is mine.

The Holy Spirit not only seals us, He is the seal; having His indwelling presence gives us this assurance.

This makes us distinct from the mere natural man who has no assurance of his future destiny. It is a great blessing to know assuredly that we belong to Christ.”

A High Level Meeting!
(Job 1:8) “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?”  (KJV)

I am sure Job had no idea that such a high level meeting was taking place in the universe about him by two great spiritual powers. Two cross-purposes collided at this meeting. God’s purpose was to make Job, His servant, more holy, but Satan’s purpose was to leave Job in utter ruin, cursing God to His face.

As the meeting took place, Job’s prosperity promised as much as anything can promise under the sun. He had a large household, and many servants. Almost anything he could have wanted or needed was there on his great property. He would not need to go to market to buy anything.

Satan boasted that his walk to and fro in the earth had brought little opposition to his will and God pointed to his servant for consideration. Think about this… how does Satan consider the saints? God considers them in one way and Satan considers them in quite a different way. God’s consideration implies goodwill, and to show favor to the one He is carefully observing. (Psalm 9:13) (Psalm 5:1)

Satan may regard a saint with wonder… as to why the saint would be loyal for so little. He fell from great privilege, but primarily, he tries to detect any weaknesses in the armor of the believer. When he is given a place, he takes full advantage of the opportunity to bring defeat to the child of God. He complains that there is a hindering hedge around the child of God and this is so blessedly true of all saints.

Let us who are His, rejoice daily in the hedge God had secured around us. We may not know just where it is, but God knows and so does our adversary, the devil.

Suffering For His Name’s Sake by Pastor Ed Bowen | Heart To Heart

SUFFERING FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE

“If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.” (I Peter 4:14-16)

There is a vast difference in suffering the “fiery trial” of testing in the refiner’s fire to be made more pure and holy, than suffering because of the foolish actions of the flesh. One is honorable, the other is shameful.

When we suffer in the will of God, it purifies us. It is a testimony to the world around us and to the people of God  who serve with us. It also brings a glorious reward, as we “count it all joy.” By contrast, suffering for one’s own foolish actions is shameful for a child of God. He brings reproach to His Saviour, whose name he bears and causes the enemies of God to blaspheme. God forbid that we, who are blood-washed and heaven-bound, dishonor our Saviour so.
